The most important provincial museum on Italian
painting; this listed building was built at the request
of Cardinal Fesch, maternal uncle of Napoleon.
He bequeathed over a thousand paintings to his
native city.

The museum has on display the most typical pieces
of the island’s prehistory from the 8th millennium BC
to the beginning of the Roman period: weapons,
costumes, jewellery, vases, tools and menhir statues.
This museum provides an indispensable complement
to a visit to the major megalithic sites of South
Corsica.
